Welfare Party of India – Maharashtra Demands Accountability Over Ahmedabad Plane Crash Tragedy

In the wake of the devastating Air India Flight AI-171 crash that occurred on 12th June 2025 in Ahmedabad, claiming the lives of 241 passengers and causing additional casualties and destruction on the ground, the Welfare Party of India – Maharashtra has issued a powerful statement expressing deep sorrow and strong demands for accountability and reform.

Calling it “a dark day in India’s aviation history,” the party said that this tragedy cannot be allowed to fade into silence. “This is not just a tragedy — it is a wake-up call,” the party emphasized in its official press release.


⚖️ A Call for Transparent Investigation and Systemic Reform

The Welfare Party has outlined four key demands:

  1. Immediate and transparent investigation by an independent body, with findings made public.
  2. Accountability for any negligence, particularly within Air India, DGCA, or related agencies.
  3. Full support and compensation for the victims’ families, including psychological counseling.
  4. A nationwide aviation safety audit and policy overhaul to prevent future disasters.

Abdul Rahaman, State President Speaks Out

In a heartfelt statement, Mr. Abdul Rahaman, State President of Welfare Party of India – Maharashtra, said:

“We mourn with the entire nation. But mourning alone is not enough. This heartbreaking tragedy must become the moment when India finally prioritizes lives over loopholes. The loss of 241 lives demands more than condolences — it demands truth, justice, and sweeping reform in our aviation system. We stand firmly with every grieving family and urge the central government to act immediately and transparently.”

The Welfare Party has also urged its members and volunteers across Maharashtra to actively participate in relief coordination, public awareness, and advocacy for aviation reform.
